Advent Season
Monday, December 15th, 2008Tis the season to count. Yes, Christmas eve is only 9 days away. Keeping up with Scriptures during this time for Christians is centered around the Advent Calendar. The many activities related to Advent prepare us to receive the Christ anew. For activities and readings visit now. And watch the lovely explanation of Advent with the candle lighting for all four Sundays.
It’s Feast of Tabernacles. Celebrate!
Saturday, October 11th, 2008Why this festival of booths? Because God commands it also – Leviticus 23:42-43. This observance is not solemn though. It is a joyful time. Messianic scholars and teachers point to this season as the time of Yeshua’s (Jesus’) birth. Joseph Good, who is not Jewish, maps out the event quite convincingly in Rosh HaShanah and the Messianic Kingdom to Come.
Curious, that this festival would be happening now. But it is also prophetically assuring. Feast of Tabernacles commemorates God’s provision for his people in the wilderness: A cloud by day and fire by night; food (Exodus 16; Numbers 11:31-35) and water (Exodus 17:1-7).
As the people of the world navigate the wilderness of economy, God’s people need not fear. Take heed of attitude; beware of complaining. Things in the world are changing and will change. But for believers, this is an ideal time to praise and give thanks.
Regardless of any circumstances and current events,
God IS!
Sins Against God
Thursday, October 9th, 2008Today is Yom Kippur – the Day of Atonement. It is traditionally observed among Jews and Messianics as the Holiest Day of the Year. It is not, like much of Biblical tradition, fully comprehended by explanation, so I will not attempt to explain. The event must be experienced in context.
This holy convocation (assembly of the people before God) is called for in Numbers 29:7. During the service in modern times, those assembled collectively confess sins, not against one another, but rather sins committed against the God who has defined sin.
It is this appointment with God that also provides the meaning for the redemptive Passion of the Christ – the ultimate Atonement for God’s people. Pay attention to these Scriptures: Leviticus 16, verses 7-10 and Hebrews 13, verses 11-12.
This time of repentance is actually a culmination of a forty-day period. Although individuals have been directed to reconcile, think again in terms of society. Jesus has paid the supreme sacrifice for each of us, but there is a passage that states
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves,
and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways;
then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin,
and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
The Book of the Bible to study today is Jonah. Read it and then return with comments about how it relates to our current times and the troubles in our land.
The Anointing in the Bible
Friday, September 26th, 2008Benny Hinn is recognized more for his healing ministry and evangelism than he is for teaching. But, he is quite an effective teacher and has much to share about the Anointing and the Supernatural. The following videos are from a conference in London:
The Anointing – Day One of Benny Hinn Teaching
David, Moses and Elisha.
The purpose of anointing for spiritual warfare.
The Anointing – Day Two of Conference Teaching
The Anointing fights demons.
The Anointing is for
Salvation – 1st dimension
Service – 2nd dimension
Signs and Wonders – 3rd dimension
No book of Acts, no Church without the Supernatural
The Anointing – Day Three of Benny Hinn’s Teaching
When that third dimension begins, every believer shall be delivered
from every demonic activity and demonic harassment, says the Lord.

Hello world!
Friday, August 22nd, 2008Welcome to Bible Reading. This blog was inspired by a most wonderful experience of Reading the Bible in 90 Days with a group of believers from Empowerment Temple in Baltimore, led by Pastor Jamal Bryant. As there are two grace days included in the count, I finished in only 88 days.
The overall concept is based on reading 12 pages daily of the NIV Large Print Version.
While it seemed somewhat daunting at first, the daily reading didn’t have to be completed in one sitting. Four pages could be read 3 times daily – morning, midday, and evening – to meet the 12-page count.
I chose an easy alternative – to listen as I read online at BibleGateway. I’ll share more about this later, but it helped to provide a consistent pacing, especially with tackling all those names in the Old Testament. Isn’t that special!?
After I completed the readings, I believe the Lord inspired me to encourage other believers to read, at least, the New Testament during this pivotal time in our history. It will only take 21 days, and you schedule by chapters instead of pages.
