About
In my Welcome to Bible Reading post, I have shared with you about my experience of reading through the Bible in 88 Days. It refreshed me as I connected with the Spirit of the Lord. It enlightened me as so many Scriptures came together to make sense. And it strengthened me in faith by putting into reasonable perspective what God is really saying to us over and over again:
Love Him and love ourselves and love our neighbors.
People who have read What did Jesus Say? The Master’s Instructions learned about this from just the Red Letter Text. But now, I want you to have a portion, at least, of the Bible reading experience that has so recently blessed me. I believe it is justified in the words of Jesus by The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard, Matthew 20:1-16.
I know this parable has a broader application than what I am setting forth; however, when we read the Word of God, we are working in the vineyard of our souls and there are rewards to be received.
We are in a critical time of humanity – there are wars and rumors of wars, and yet we are instructed to “be not troubled” because “the end is not yet” (Matthew 24:6; Mark 13:7). We are in a period of transition, and as many of us who will, are called to commune with God and prepare for what He has in store for us.
The King James Version adds in verse 16 . . .” for many be called but few chosen.” I believe that all are called, but the chosen ones are those who report to the task, the ones who show up to be chosen.
Dear One, I pray that you will participate in the 21 days of reading the New Testament. As of this writing, the days will span both American political conventions and the week thereafter. I am going to try to make it as easy for you as possible.
On Day 1, begin with only 4 chapters of Matthew, and then continue on Day 2 with the full 12 pages per day for 20 additional days. Visit the “N.T.” page for Pastor Jamal Bryant’s excellent overview.
Be blessed and Godspeed!
